On the other hand, AMPPS is used by Softaculous environment but does not present this option on XAMPP
How to install WordPress on localhost AMPPS server
Step 1: Download and Install AMPPS Server
For Installation, purpose downloads the latest version of AMPPS.
Select the appropriate version depending on your operating system. If you’re a Linux user, you will need to select between the 32bit or 64bit packages. Don’t worry, instructions are given on the download page.
Install WordPress on localhost AMPPS according to your recent operating system version. If you’re a Linux OS you will need to select a 32 bit or 64bit package depending on your installed current bit operating system.
- Start the installation by opening the ampps.exe downloaded from the website
- The wizard will ask the path to install WordPress on localhost AMPPS

Step 2: Run the Apache and MySQL
After installing, open the app. You’ll have the ON and OFF toggle tab “Control Center.” Run or Start both Apache and MySQL by clicking the toggle buttons for both of them.
Note: It will be the best result if your Windows PC runs as Administrator.
You’ll see success messages in the status window below and type http://localhost/ into your browser’s address bar.
In some browsers, you may be able to get away with just typing “localhost” but since many browsers combine their address bar with a search engine such as Google Chrome, it might get confused and try to search for “localhost” instead. So prefixing “localhost” with http:// is a good habit to get into.
Step3: Download and Install WordPress
Install purpose download WordPress latest version or as your requirements form worpress.org

- A database Name
- A user name
- A password
- And a database host

- Insert here Database name you want to use with WordPress
- Write the user name
- Given strong password combination numeric, alphabet and special character
for security purpose
- Database Hostname put the default: localhost
The next screenshot appears to give some information. Give your site details and hit the ‘Install WordPress’ button.
- Choose the site title which you want as a website
- Write your personal email address. If any problem happens on the site send a mail
- Write the appropriate email address
- Carefully check the search engine visibility button. Otherwise, Google would start indexing your local site.

Congrats! You have successfully installed WordPress localhost with AMPPS. Now login to your site with the details you have used during the installation of WordPress.
- Now visit your site and build your WordPress website in the localhost in the way you want. IP: https://127.0.0.1/wordpress/wp-admin or https://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin
Finally, you get or sea the WordPress Dashboard
- This is your backend dashboard or admin panel, from where you would control everything.

The alternative way the install WordPress AMPPS Dashboard
Step 1: Choose a Fake or Local Domain
If we want to can use the link https://localhost/wordpress/ or http://127.0.0.1/wordpress/ for a locally hosted WordPress site
Run or Start AMPPS server to access and control home AMPPS dashboard
You can also access AMPPS Home by typing the following URL into your browser’s address bar: http://localhost/ampps
If you can not access the above site then follow the AMPPS home screen
“Add Domain” below the link
For example purposes, we’ll use the following fake domain: WordPress.localhost
Step 2: install WordPress on localhost AMPPS
On the left panel select blog and click WordPress. This will take you to the WordPress overview screen. From here click “Install” to start the Automated installation process.
Now we will enter the details of our installation such as the domain we will like to install WordPress for and the name of the database.
Now we can proceed to install Worpress by pressing install. The package will begin downloading and you will be presented with a screen that will display the installation progress.
You will then ve greeted with a congratulation screen which will confirm that the installation was completed successfully.
Finally, install WordPress locally.
